FAQs

What does a Hacking Luck™ workshop for sales teams actually look like?
Every workshop is built around your team’s targets, pipeline and market, so there’s no off-the-shelf agenda. A typical session opens with the research on why some sellers seem to get all the lucky breaks. Then come facilitated exercises that apply the eight Hacking Luck™ principles to your real accounts, prospects and objections. Before the session, Stephanie holds discovery calls with your sales leadership so the content reflects your sales motion, your numbers and the deals that keep slipping away.

What does luck have to do with sales?
More than most sales leaders would like to admit. Look at any pipeline and you’ll find chance everywhere: the referral nobody saw coming, the champion who moved to a new company, the inbound lead that became the biggest deal of the year. Research from Dr Richard Wiseman and Pluchino et al. shows that “lucky” people behave in measurably different ways. Hacking Luck™ turns those behaviours into repeatable habits, so your team creates more of those moments on purpose.

How is this different from standard sales training?
Most sales training teaches methodology: qualification frameworks, objection handling and closing techniques. Hacking Luck™ works further upstream, on the behaviours that put sellers in front of more opportunities in the first place. That means activating weak ties, being visible where buyers are looking, taking calculated risks and recovering from rejection faster. It works alongside your existing methodology and doesn’t replace it.
What topics and themes can be covered?
The workshop draws on the eight principles: Agency, Openness, Positivity, Resilience, Network, Visibility, Risks and Zagging, each applied to the realities of selling. Common focus areas include:
-
resilience in high-rejection roles
-
generating referrals through the strength of weak ties (Granovetter)
-
personal visibility and social selling
-
standing out in crowded categories
If your team is facing a specific challenge, such as missed targets, a new market launch, long sales cycles or low morale after a restructure, the session can be built entirely around it.

Can it be tailored to our industry and sales model?
Yes, and this part is non-negotiable. A SaaS SDR team, an enterprise field sales team and a group of professional services partners all win business differently. Generic sales content rarely lands with experienced sellers, who can spot it a mile off. Before every engagement, Stephanie runs a briefing process to understand your sector, buyers, sales cycle and team dynamics. The result feels built for your business, not borrowed from someone else’s.
Why Stephanie Melodia?
Stephanie has sold for a living herself. Following a career in business development agency side, she built an award-winning marketing consultancy from scratch, ran it for five years and worked with 100 startups, boasting a higher than industry benchmark conversion rate. She co-hosts The S Word, a sales-focused podcast with Tash Rebuck, and hosted Strategy & Tragedy, a UK Top 20 business show with more than 100 founder interviews. She brings the research, and she also knows what a bad quarter feels like.

How long does a workshop run, and what formats are available?
-
90 minutes: ideal for a sales kick-off, quarterly business review or team meeting.
-
Half day: works for teams with tighter schedules, or as a follow-up to an earlier session.
-
Full day: six to seven hours of facilitated content, with enough depth to move from diagnosis to a working plan.
-
Three-month programme: a series of sessions that turns insight into habit. This is the strongest option for lasting behaviour change, because new habits take repetition to stick.
What size of team works best?
For workshops, the sweet spot is eight to 20 people. That’s large enough for a range of perspectives and small enough for real dialogue. It suits SDR and BDR teams, account executive squads, account management teams and sales leadership groups alike. Larger teams can be split into breakout groups, and full sales organisations are usually best served by the keynote format.

What do participants typically leave with?
Teams leave with a shared language for creating opportunities. Each seller leaves with a personal action plan covering specific commitments, such as dormant contacts to reactivate and visibility habits to start. The team also gets a set of prioritised actions with clear owners. Post-session documentation of the key outputs and next steps is included as standard.

How far in advance should we book?
Six to eight weeks is ideal, because it leaves time for discovery and session design. Sales kick-off season runs from January to February and is the busiest time of year, so for kick-off dates, book three to four months ahead. Enquiries for 2027 are already being taken.

Where do workshops take place?
Wherever suits your team: your office, an offsite venue or your kick-off location. Stephanie travels across the UK and internationally. Off-site works especially well for sales teams, because a change of scene signals that this isn’t another pipeline review.

How much does a workshop cost?
Fees are bespoke and depend on format, team size and requirements. Fill out this form and we’ll discuss the details on a call.

Can Stephanie also deliver a keynote at our sales kick-off?
Yes. Her signature keynote, “Hacking Luck”, shows ambitious teams how to reverse-engineer success and stack the odds in their favour. It runs 60 to 90 minutes and pairs well with a follow-on workshop for smaller groups. She also speaks on entrepreneurship, growth, resilience, corporate innovation and women’s empowerment. Every talk draws on peer-reviewed research and practical frameworks, not generic inspiration.

How do we enquire or book?
Fill in this enquiry form and Stephanie’s team will reply within two working days to confirm availability and discuss your requirements.
