The tarot card reading

I was in Helsinki for Slush in November 2022, and Google (you may have heard of them) were doing tarot card readings at their stand (I don’t know, don’t ask 🤷🏻‍♀️).

As tenuous-to-non-existent as the tarot link to the tech behemoth was, I must admit I was intrigued…

The best talk from all of Slush 2022, IMO. Slush Helsinki with Rahul Vohra of Superhuman interviewed by Harry Stebbings of 20VC.

Now, before I proceed, I know a smart person is reading this, so whatever insight was gleaned from the tarot card reading I’m sure was more a reflection of my inner psyche than any magical woo-woo powers 😉

Anyway, the first card I pulled out stunned me...

The tarot card featured an illustration of a woman (ok), wearing a long black coat (like me, but ok not a huge coincidence), with her back to the viewer, facing a depressing, barren landscape (so symbolic), with five cups at her feet (this was days before Blooms fifth anniversary).

Tarot card of one woman and five cups

Three out of the five jugs of water had tipped over, with two still standing - apparently signifying I’d been through some sh*t but still had a couple of cups in me to keep going. (This was November 2022, I publicly announced Bloom’s closure in July 2023).

Of course it wasn’t this single tarot card reading that made me decide to shut down my six-figure business 😆

But it made me confront my true feelings, and thus a downward slope from there…
